Pre-army academies attract some of the most idealistic of Israeli Jewish youth. Participants devote a full year before entering the army to deepening their Israeli and Jewish identity, and a high percentage of them go on to serve in the IDF as officers. While the programs vary from academy to academy, they all include courses in Zionism, ethics, Israeli identity, democracy and Jewish and Israeli history.
Kesher Yehudi currently provides a full-year curriculum designed to meet the needs of these youngsters in fifteen mechinot. Each student is provided a study partner with whom to learn on a weekly basis throughout the year.
Once a month, Kesher Yehudi creates a full-day program at the individual academies, combining shiurim, more individualized learning, and discussion groups. Each academy participates in at least one Shabbaton in a Torah observant community and special programs around the Jewish holidays.
